Video: Stanford and UConn sing and dance before the NCAA’s

In the past week or so leading to the NCAA tournament two of the four #1 seeded women’s basketball teams have released music videos which highlight their off court talents.

First was the Stanford Cardinal releasing original song “Nerd City Kids”, written and performed by sisters Nnemkadi and Chiney Ogwumike.

Among the students featured in the video are members of the Leland Stanford, Jr. University Marching Band, the Stanford women’s basketball team and student-athletes from Stanford’s nationally-recognized football, men’s basketball, women’s volleyball, softball, men’s volleyball and track and field teams.

That song was followed by UConn Huskies lip syncing and dancing to Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe’’, released yesterday.

Said Caroline Doty via ctnews:

“We were listening to the song before the Selection Show (Monday),’’ Doty said. “It was just really catchy. It gets your body moving and we had fun with it. We decided to film a few dance moves and put it together. I didn’t know that it was really going to get this big. We kind of did it for fun. It was Spring Break 2012. We’re going wild.’’
