Russian club UMMC has confirmed to FIBA Europe’s Jeff Taylor that Russian center Maria Stepanova has been diagnosed with a torn ACL.
Stepanova sustained the injury in yesterday’s game against Sparta&K Moscow Region during a battle for the rebound with Seimone Augustus.
That injury means that she could be back in action in October, so no Olympic games for her. But will she come back? She has won everything she realistically could. This season, even before the injury, has been a major disaster for her (38% shooting from the field!). Can she come back better at 33 years old then she went down with the injury?
