Candace Parker re-signs with UMMC Ekaterinburg

Following today’s game against Sparta&K, UMMC forward Candace Parker confirmed to RIA News that she has re-signed with UMMC.

“Yes, I’m staying here. I just signed a contract for one more season,” she’s being quoted saying by RIA News.

This signing could put a wrench in all the rumors of Taurasi and Taylor going to Ekaterinburg – only two of those three would be able to play in EuroLeague Women which is the main competition for UMMC. So unlike both Turkish team’s, their priority is Europe not domestic league.

In ELW Parker averaged 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds, while in Russian league her numbers following today’s 30 point outburst are 14.4 points and 7.5 rebounds.

      Very doubtful that both of them will go. One very well could. UMMC are more likely to have a player they have only for EuroLeague rather than just for the Russian league.

    UMMC do not need Taylor and Taurasi. We have the best players in the U.S. – Parker and Bird.We say Taurasi * welcome to the guests*, but we do not want to have her player of our team

      First of all, the former players have said that for the owners the priority is the Turkish league. Secondly it’s being re-inforced by the teams themselves who have had top 10 players in the world on their teams only for the purposes of Turkish league. You don’t see that anywhere else in Europe.
      Don’t get me wrong, ELW is important, but beating the other team in Turkish league is more important.

    Fenerbahce thinks EL Cup everytime although 3+1 or 2+2 disadvantage.If no limit FB and GS can 8-10 foreign player such as Ros,UMMC,Spartak(2006-2010 period) and create the strongest teams
    Also Russia everytime lots of USA players give Russian Citizen EL accept this easyly
    Every time Russian and Spain Clubs put the rule and EL never forbidden it
    Eventhough all factors Fenerbahce figt to EL Cup We never play 8 foreign player domestic league as same as Ros but hope next year defeat all factors and win the EL Cup as same as Volleyball player Which winner CL and World Cup Fenerbahce Sports Club

      Yes, main reason for not winning EL is domestic limits. And these limits are applied by Turkish Federation, not clubs. Limited EU players is big problem.
      On calendar, Turkish league finals appear after than EL, so because of elimination from EL makes domestic finals (last goal) more important.
      And because of new domestic limit (2+2), Fener or GS has less winning chance than last year.
