17 player Spanish NT preliminary roster released

Spanish Basketball Federation has finally released a 17 candidate list for the Spanish NT this summer.

List features Sancho Lyttle who the Spanish Basketball Federation believe will come over during her WNBA commitments with the Atlanta Dream while the Dream’s spokesperson has denied it saying that they don’t expect Lyttle to miss any games.

Name not found on the candidate list is Silvia Dominguez who had expressed to the National Federation desire to spend this summer in the WNBA. After she was yesterday suspended for the WNBA season it was too late for her to be put among the candidates.

Among the 13 players 3 have never played for the National Team (Gastaminza, Rodriguez and Ble) while 6 players (Aguilar, Palau, Montanana, Valdemoro, Fernandez, Pascua) have had more than 100 games with the NT.

As was previously reported the head coach of the team will be Lucas Mondelo, who will be assisted by Victor Lapena (Mann Filter Zaragoza) and Isa Sanchez, player who plays for him with Perfumerias Avenida.

Camp will start on May 28, just more than two weeks before the first game against Bulgaria. Their only pre-tournament friendlies will be in Lithuania against the hosts, Latvia and Sweden.

Spain have been drawn in Group D of EuroBasket Women qualifiers with Germany, Sweden, Romania and Bulgaria.
