Bonner, Montgomery, Miller, Perovanovic, Tamane sign with Nadezhda Orenburg

Nadezhda Orenburg head coach Alexander Kovalev has confirmed to RIA News the addition of five new players for the next season – Renee Montgomery, DeWanna Bonner, Kelly Miller, Iva Perovanovic and Zane Tamane.

He also confirmed that the Russian trio of Alena Danilochkina, Natalia Zhedik and Liudmila Sapova will remain with the team next season. They will be joined be three youth players – Alexandra Tarasova, Anastasia Maximova and Yuliya Puluyanova.

One or two more signings could be expected.

With these signings the ambitions of the team will increase according to Kovalev – a Final Eight appearance in EuroLeague Women, maybe even a top four finish, and second place in Russian league. He considers UMMC being head and shoulders above the rest of the Russian teams.

Renee Montgomery started last season with UNI SEAT Gyor, but their relationship ended rather ugly. She finished the season with Tarsus in Turkey – there she in 7 games averaged 12.3 points (44% 2p, 24% 3p) and 2.3 assists per game.

Kelly Miller is American guard with Russian passport. She spent last season with Samsun in Turkey, averaging 9.5 points (40% 2p, 35% 3p), 4.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

DeWanna Bonner was one of ELW’s leading scorers last season with Perfumerias Avenida. There she averaged 19.3 points (47% 2p, 32% 3p) and 9.6 rebounds per game in ELW and 15.7 points (55% 2p, 37% 3p) and 6.4 rebounds in Spanish league.

Montenegrin power forward Iva Perovanovic spent last season in Poland with CCC Polkowice. Her numbers in EuroLeague women were 12.4 points (54% 2p) and 5.7 rebounds in EuroLeague Women and 9.1 points (61% 2p) and 4.2 rebounds in Polish league.

Latvian center Zane Tamane was with Fenerbahce last season – she averaged 10.7 points (61% 2p) and 6.3 rebounds per game in EuroLeague Women and 8.5 points (65% 2p) and 5.1 rebounds in Turkish league action.
