Three Stars: Pondexter, Mitchell lead Liberty past the Dream

LWB’s three stars from last day’s WNBA action.

1st star: Cappie Pondexter, New York Liberty
Pondexter led Liberty to their second straight win. This time it came at the expense of Atlanta Dream. Pondexter was games top scorer with 26 points on 8 from 17 shooting.

2nd star: Leilani Mitchell, New York Liberty
It’s no coincidence Liberty have played better as a team with their starting PG Mitchell having played two good games. This time Mitchell scored 18 points on 4 from 5 shooting behind the arc, also adding 4 assists.

3rd star: Angel McCoughtry, Atlanta Dream
McCoughtry scored 21 points against the Liberty. It’s ok number but for the Dream to be competitive in this game she should have been much closer to 30 points. McCoughtry was the only player with a double-double, adding 14 rebounds.

Honorable mentions
Aneika Henry was 6 from 7 from the field for 14 points… Kia Vaughn added 3 blocks to her 15 points.

Dishonorable mentions
Liberty bench were 1 from 10 from the field… Sancho Lyttle needed 18 shots to score 12 points.
