Manager of Russian club Vologda Chevakata, Valentina Cherepanova, has confirmed to 35media.ru, that Dmitry Donskov will take over one of the perennial EuroCup Women favorites Chevakata.
She counts on having Donskov coaching there for a while, building a young team. Objective for the team will be to finish no lower than sixth in Russian league.
Donskov coached Spartak St.Petersburg to an eight place finish despite the team being in serious financial troubles for most of the season. Previously he was an assistant at UMMC to Gundars Vetra. Last two summers Donskov has coached Russian U20 teams to gold and silver medals in European U20 championships.
Cherepanova also announced signing of two young Russian players – center Anastasia Logunova and forward Victoria Solovyeva.
Logunova, MVP of European U20′s in 2010, spent last season mostly glued to the bench of Nadezhda Orenburg. Solovyeva comes from Dynamo Moscow youth team. Both have played for Donskov in Russian U20 teams.
