Three Stars: Moore leads Minnesota to 9-0 start to the season

LWB’s three stars from last day’s WNBA action.

1st star: Maya Moore, Minnesota Lynx
Moore had her best game of the season on Saturday against the Shock. In fact her 26 points were the first time this season she had even reached 20 mark. With that win the Lynx have tied the league record of starting the season with 9 consecutive wins (only 2001 and 2003 Los Angeles Sparks have achieved that). Considering their next game is against the shorthanded awful playing Mercury, it’s very likely they’ll set a new record.

2nd star: Monica Wright, Minnesota Lynx
Wright has had no issues stepping in the starting role and starters minutes in the absence of Seimone Augustus (strained quad). She went 6 from 10 from the field for 18 points on the night.

3rd star: Ziomara Morrison, San Antonio Silver Stars
Chilean center had a game of her young career with 12 points on 3 from 5 shooting. It kind of made one wonder why Dan Hughes keeps her glued to the bench while giving almost all of the playing time to the ineffective Appel and very undersized Adams and Young.

Honorable mentions
Five Silver Stars players scored in double digits… Shekinna Stickled had a good game for Seattle with 14 points… Jennifer Lacy led Tulsa with 15 points on 5/11 shooting.

Dishonorable mentions
Sue Bird made only 1 field goal of 13 attempted… Becky Hammon turned the ball over 4 times, she has currently the second most turnovers in the league

Scores:
San Antonio Silver Stars – Seatte Storm 80-67
Tulsa Shock – Minnesota Lynx 93-73
