Friendlies: Russia defeat Australia, France triumph at home, Turkey and GB undefeated in Ankara

Five games were played on Saturday.

Russians are in Italy to play Australia twice this weekend. In the first game on Sunday they topped Australians 60-51. After the both coach agreed about fifth quarter the outcome didn’t change as Russians remained on top 68-62. Only player in the game to score in double digits was Suzy Batkovic with 10 points. Both teams will meet on Sunday.

France triumphed in a tourney they hosted after a 25 point win agianst Canada. Sandrine Gruda recorded a double double 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Frenchwomen. Following this game the French made their final cut which was Marielle Amant. Full roster is available here. In the other game Czech Republic earned their first win of the weekend by defeating Croatia.

Turkey are seeing improvements in their play with another win in Ankara – this time against South Korea. Top players for the hosts were three posts – birthday girl Nevriye Yilmaz, Nevin Nevlin and Quanitra Hollingsworth. Last two are vying for one naturalized player spot on the team. Great Britain also remain undefeated with a win against Argentina. Jo Leedham continued her impressive play with 22 points in the win.
