Sparta&K sign Isabelle Yacoubou and Ekaterina Ruzanova

Russian team Sparta&K have announced the signing of French power forward Isabelle Yacoubou and Russian point guard Ekaterina Ruzanova.

Yacoubou was on last season’s EuroLeague Women champions Ros Casares squad. It’s believed she was set to leave the team even before their financial situation came to light. Last season she averaged 9.4 points (51% 2p) and 4.8 rebounds per game in EuroLeague Women and 12.3 points (54% 2p) and 6.2 rebounds in Spanish league.

Ruzanova comes to Sparta&K from Nadezhda Orenburg where played last season after spending previous 3 with Sparta&K. Last season soon to turn 30 point guard averaged 4 points (42% 2p, 58% 3p), 2.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game in ELW and 4.3 points (50% 2p, 27% 3p), 1.9 rebounds and 2 assists in Russian league.

By bringing in a fourth point guard it raises questions whether Nika Baric will be on the team next or if she will be loaned out as Natalia Vieru was last season.
