Two Israeli clubs have announced signing in recent days. Maccabi Ramat Hen today announced the signing of American guard Samantha Prahalis, while Maccabi Ashdod on Monday announced the signing of Israeli NT member Noa Ganor.

Prahalis has just recently graduated from Ohio State and is in her first professional season with WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury. With them she’s currently averaging 11.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.

Israeli NT member Noa Ganor previously played for Elizur Netanya, averaging 6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2 assists per game in Israeli league. In three games with Israeli NT this summer she has averaged 2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Whit all respect to Ramat Hen and Israely league, but considering her statistics this girl should be a good club euroleague level! Am I wrong?

Yes! Even it is her first season in Europe, she is Euroleague level. In my opinion bad choice.

Choice? I bet her agents didn’t even tell her for other options! So there are 2 possibilities: or her agents are rookies so they don’t know their job and they dont have other offers, or they have a deal with someone from Ramat Hen about sharing money. I dont see anything else. I strongly doubt that she would choose Ramat Hen over some Euroleague team.

Another option. It will be her first season abroad. According to most American players Israel is the most Americanized country in Europe. It will be easier for her to transition to professional basketball life in such place rather then, say, in Kosice.

As much as I respect your opinion, i have to disagree now. First, two very good examples that Kosice are good for newcomers, Angel and Janel. Second, Israel maybe is the most Americanized country, but their league is well known as league where players practice the least ( some of the teams once per day, and not every day ). Talking about basketball, i think its not good choice for her, with her quality, to go there. Talking about life, how she will get used on Europe, if she doesnt come to Europe?

Sammy is definitely Euroleague quality. Maybe you’re right, she just wants to get her feet wet since she’s never been away from the USA. She’ll be an All-Star in Israel, you can bet on that.
