CSM Targoviste sign Marginean, Pascalau and Stoenescu

According to totalbaschet.ro who referred to Jurnalul de dâmbovița, Romanian champions CSM Targoviste have signed Gabriella Marginean and Florina Pascalau. Earlier they broke the news of Targoviste signing Ancuta Stoenescu.

Marginean is currently the best player on Romanian NT as she’s currently scoring 20.2 points per game in EuroBasket Women 2013 qualifiers. She averaged 12.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in the French league for Arras during 2011/12 season.

Florina Pascalau last season played for Cras Taranto, before tearing her ACL in March. In 19 Italian league games before that Pascalau had averaged 5.8 points and 3.2 rebounds, in EuroLeague Women she averaged 5.4 points and 3 rebounds.

Ancuta Stoenescu, the Romanian NT captain, last season played for CSU Alba Iulia, averaging 10 points in Romanian league. This summer she’s been averaging 14 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game for Romanian NT.

Current roster of Targoviste, according to totalbaschet.ro, consists of Elina Babkina, Ivanka Matic, Ksenia Tikhonenko, Olga Vorobyeva, Claudia Pop, Ancuta Stoenescu, Andreea Hutanu, Volha Tamargeanu, Florina Pascalau and Gabriela Marginean. 2 American players from the WNBA are expected to be signed.

Doesn’t exactly look like a ELW contender, so we’ll get to see how good, or bad, of a coach Diks is without players who need no coaching- like McOughtry and Taylor on the squad. Claudia Pop was a marginal player in Spain 2 years ago, Marginean had a decent season at Arras against French local teams, but untested in ELW and Romania is in qualifications, which is playing the worst of Europe who didn’t make it last summer. Hardly a test for players to show their abilities in ELW…

But, they have BABKINA. All 170cm of her!
