Candace Parker and Tina Charles have been named players of the month in their respective conferences. Nneka Ogwumike has been named rookie of the month.
Ogwumike led all rookies in rebounding (11.0 rpg) and ranked second in scoring (14.0 ppg). Overall, Ogwumike placed third in rebounds per game in the league. In a 77-74 win against the Indiana Fever on July 12, Ogwumike contributed a double-double with 22 points and a career-high 20 rebounds. She also broke the WNBA record for most offensive rebounds in a game with 12, and set a new career-high in minutes with 38. She posted three double-doubles in six games in July and scored in double-digits in all contests.

For Charles, the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month presented by Boost Mobile award is her second straight award. In leading the Sun to a 5-1 record in July, Charles paced the conference in rebounds (11.2 rpg), was second in minutes (35.7 mpg), and fourth in scoring (19.0 ppg). The 2010 WNBA Rookie of the Year and 2011 All-WNBA First Team selection recorded a double-double in four-of-six contests, scoring at least 19 points three times and pulling down at least 13 rebounds an equal number of times. She also helped Connecticut reach the break with 15-4 record, tied with the Minnesota Lynx for the best overall mark in the league.
Parker, who also earned Western Conference Player of the Month presented by Boost Mobile honors in May and June, helped the Sparks to a 5-0 mark in July while leading the league in rebounds (12.0 rpg) and blocks (2.2 bpg), and ranking sixth in scoring (20.0 ppg). En route to claiming the July honor, Parker, the 2008 league MVP and Rookie of the Year, helped Los Angeles improve to 15-6 overall, third best in the tightly contested Western Conference.
