Turkish giants Galatasaray has signed American point guard Lindsay Whalen for the upcoming season, the player revealed on her twitter account.
I am very excited about playing for Galatasaray this year in Euroleague!
— Lindsay Whalen (@Lindsay_13) July 22, 2012
Galatasaray will be only her third team in Europe – she spent her first two seasons with UMMC Ekaterinburg, after which she played 5 years for ZVVZ USK Praha.
USK decided to not continue to employ her after the last season and use that American player spot on a post player instead. They’ve signed Rebbekah Brunson and Kia Vaughn this offseason.
With Prague Whalen last year averaged 8.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3 assists per game in EuroLeague Women and 14.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in Czech league.
In the WNBA Whalen plays for Minnesota Lynx where she became WNBA champion in 2011.
Whalen is on the American NT getting ready to defend their Olympic title in London.
