Olympics Day One Round-up

Czech Republic shot 31% from the floor and turned the ball over 16 times allowing the underdog Chinese to upset World silver medalists.

Russia came back late in the game to avoid second upset in two games in the morning as they held off the brave Canadian squad.

Turkey made their Olympics debut with a 22 point win over the African champions Angola. Jelena Ivezic scored 22 points as Croatia held on for three quarters against USA, but eventually falling to defending champions by more than 20 points.

Brazil were unable to limit the French point guard Celine Dumerc who made her Olympics debut with 23 points. She finished as the top scorer of day one.

Hosts Brits made their Olympics debut with a rather convincing loss to Australia who were led by the Australian flag bearer Lauren Jackson.
