WNBA returns with 3 games

WNBA resumed its play after the Olympic brake on Thursday with 3 games, none of which turned out to be exciting.

Nothing much appears to have changed in the Mystics land as the Eastern conference’s worst team continued their awful ways. Out of all the Fever players they were killed by Indian’s backup post Erlana Larkins who scored 16 points, going perfect 8 from 8 from the line. Mystics top player Crystal Langhorne had a horrible outing as she had just 4 points and 3 rebounds despite playing the most on her team.

Having already secured tiebreaker against the Liberty, Connecticut Sun dropped their first game of the season series to New York. Playing without Asjha Jones who’s out with a strained Achilles, Connecticut were unable to overcome the awful night that Tina Charles had – US gold medal winning center made just one field goal the whole game. After missing a month before the break, Plenette Pierson returned on the court with 16 points, helping Cappie Pondexter, who scored 24 points, lead New York to the win.

It’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s not with Phoenix Mercury. Alexis Gray-Lawson has supposedly sprained her ankle while Diana Taurasi is out “due to a late return from London” which is absolute ridiculousness. As Richard “WNBAlien” Cohen put it - ”The Mercury announced today that Diana Taurasi will miss 6-8 weeks with jet lag.” Playing without Ann Wauters, Lauren Jackson and second half of the game without Sue Bird who went down with a stomach flu, the Mercury didn’t pose much threat to Storm.
