Tulsa made Connecticut work hard for their 17th win, New York is closing in on Chicago.
Kalana Greene hit the game tying shot near the end of regulation to force overtime against Tulsa Shock. At the end of overtime Kara Lawson made a three to give Connecticut the win against Tulsa. All in all Tulsa has become much more competitive than in previous two seasons, even without Liz Cambage.
After their 7-1 start of the season, Chicago Sky has now dropped 11 of their last 12 games. Sky are playing far from what one could call well and most of that falls on coaching – whatever coach Chatman is trying to do isn’t working (it didn’t work when they started 7-1 either as they lucked out to some of those wins). While their season appears to be in danger it’s not over and there is still time to right the ship.
Silver Stars went on a third quarter 17-5 run and withstood a late Washington Mystics comeback attempt for their 12th consecutive victory. Becky Hammon led San Antonio with 22 points (6/13 FG). Silver Stars are now two wins away (or two Phoenix and one Tulsa loss) away from clinching their spot in the playoffs.
It didn’t matter for Seattle Storm that they played on of their better games of the season as that wasn’t enough to beat the Western conference leading Minnesota Lynx. Seattle had Lauren Jackson, who had re-joined the team less than 24 hours before the game, on the bench. During gametime interview she said she should be ready to go by their next which will be Thursday as they take on Indiana. Ann Wauters and Tina Thompson are still sidelined with injuries.
Los Angeles Sparks ran out to a 18-3 lead at the start of the game and held back the Indiana Fever, not allowing them to get closer than 6 points (on a Catchings FT with 1:17 remaining) in the remainder of the game. Key for Los Angeles was controlling the inside where the Fever did not have an answer to Candace Parker and Nneka Ogwumike.
