Washington Mystics have announced they have signed Brazilian wing Iziane Castro Marques. To free up a spot on the roster they waives Natasha Lacy.
A nine-year WNBA veteran, Castro Marques first joined the league as a free agent with the Miami Sol. She has played for the Phoenix Mercury, Seattle Storm and most recently with the Atlanta Dream, where she helped the team reach consecutive WNBA Finals. Castro Marques represented Brazil in the 2004 Olympics and sat out the first half of the 2012 WNBA season due to her commitment to her country’s national team. Her career averages include 10.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
