Atlanta Dream forward Sancho Lyttle and Los Angeles Sparks guard Kristi Toliver have been named WNBA players of the previous week.
Now in her eighth WNBA campaign, Lyttle led Atlanta to a 2-1 record for the week, as the Dream earned victories over Eastern Conference foes Chicago (82-71) and Washington (81-69), and fell only to league-leading Minnesota (84-74). In the wins, the University of Houston product picked up the slack for Atlanta, which played both of those games without WNBA scoring leader Angel McCoughtry. For the week, Lyttle led Atlanta in scoring (17.3 ppg), rebounding (7.3 rpg), and steals (2.7 apg), while also averaging 3.7 assists. In the process, she ranked second in the East in steals, third in scoring, and fourth in rebounds, free throw percentage (.889), and minutes (34.3 mpg).
In leading the Sparks to a 3-0 mark on the week and back into second place in the West (behind Minnesota and ahead of San Antonio) , Toliver led the conference in scoring (25.3 ppg), ranked second in three-point field goal percentage (.619 on 13-of-21 shooting from behind the arc), and tied for second in steals (2.0 spg). She also tied for fourth in both assists (4.3 apg) and field goal percentage (.571, 24-of-42).
