DeWanna Bonner and Tamika Catchings named WNBA players of the week

WNBA has announced its players of the previous week. They are Phoenix Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner and Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings.

The 11th-year pro opened the week with 17 points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks as Indiana downed the visiting Washington Mystics, 83-68. She then scored a game-high 22 points, grabbed five boards, and added four assists and three steals in a 76-63 road win over the New York Liberty. Catchings closed out the week with a double-double, her sixth of the season, with a 17-point, 10-rebound effort that also included three steals, two assists, and a pair of blocks as Indiana clinched a playoff berth.

The Auburn University product, who has started all 25 games for the Mercury to date this season, ranked second in the Western Conference in both scoring (23.0 ppg) and rebounding (10 rpg), while tying for second in blocks (1.5 bpg). She also averaged three assists per outing as Phoenix defeated the host Seattle Storm, 75-68, and returned home to defeat the San Antonio Silver Stars, 94-90.
