Legendary Slovak guard Zuzana Zirkova has decided to take a break from basketball. As she said to Slovak national TV, she is going to certainly skip the upcoming season.
Zirkova in her 32 belongs among the icons of Slovak basketball. As an 18-year-old, she participated in her first EuroBasket Women Tournament. Slovakia finished on the fourth place and Zirkova averaged 4 points and 1 rebound per game. In her longstanding basketball career, Zirkova won EuroLeague three times – twice with Ruzomberok and once with Brno. In 2011 she underwent a knee surgery and missed action for a half year. Nevertheless she finished the season with Good Angels Kosice, who fell to Zirkova’s previous employer UMMC Yekaterinburg in EuroLeague play-offs.
So far, Zirkova hasn’t made a final decision to retire from basketball. As she stated, she is just tired of basketball and needs some break. On the other hand, Zirkova hasn’t said she will definitely return on court after the pause.
