It was a must win game for Chicago Sky on Thursday night in Los Angeles to try and keep up with New York Liberty in the standings. Sky failed to win, largerly because of LA’s post play to which Chicago didn’t have an answer. Chicago is now essentially two games behind New York in the standings because NY has the conference tiebreaker, with 4 games remaining for each team. Nneka Ogwumike set a new career record with 30 points, while also pulling down 11 rebounds for a double-double. Chicago’s loss allowed Atlanta Dream to officially clinch a playoff spot. Now only one place is up for grabs and it will very likely go to New York, barring a collapse.
Chicago Sky – Los Angeles Sparks 77-86
Sky: Cash 23, Prince 19, Young 12
Sparks: Ogwumike 30 (11 reb), Milton-Jones 19, Beard 13, Parker 11
