Indiana extends series, Seattle also wins in instant classic

Despite Katie Douglas having an abominable game everyone else on the Indiana Fever stepped up big on offense as the team shot more than 50% from the field, including making 7 three pointers, an area in which the Dream closed out on them very well in game 1. Briann January picked up the slack from Douglas early as she was scoring at will. Tamika Catchings closed it out in the final quarter, in which she scored 18 points. 6 of 7 Fever players who stepped on court scored in double digits. Only player who didn’t was the previously mentioned Douglas. Erlana Larkins provided big boost for the Fever, having started in place of Tammy Sutton-Brown, who wasn’t bad from the bench, either.

The game of the day easily was in Seattle where the hosts came back from a couple of double digit deficits to win the game in double overtime. Minnesota missed a couple of freethrows (Augustus and McWilliams-Franklin) at the end of regulation which allowed Lauren Jackson to do this to get the game to overtime:

In the first overtime Tanisha Wright made a three pointer with 30 seconds remaining to tie the game up once more. Seimone Augustus missed badly on Minnesota’s final possesion of the first OT. In the second overtime, Seattle made some big threes – first Tina Thompson then two by Sue Bird to which Minnesota’s offense couldn’t answer.

Both game 3′s will be on Tuesday night.
