Famila Schio win Italian Super Cup, Giorgia Sottana named the MVP

Famila Schio claimed their first cup of the season by defeating defending league and Italian Cup champions Goldbet Taranto in Italian Super Cup. This win snapped Schio’s 6 consecutive loss streak to Taranto.

Schio led throught most of the game with Taranto managing to go on a run in the third quarter to have their last lead of the game 45-44. Schio finished off the game on a 28-6 run.

The winners were without their two American players – Danielle McCray and Jantel Lavender who are still pre-occupied in the WNBA.

Schio’s leading scorer Giorgia Sottana was named the MVP of the game. Megan Mahoney was the one who kept Taranto in the game for the first 2 and a half quarters.

Regular season in Italy is set to start next weekend.
