WNBA handed out two more awards before tonight’s encounter between Los Angeles and Minnesota. LA Sparks forward Nneka Ogwumike was named the Rookie of the Year while the Sparks coach Carol Ross was named the Coach of the Year.
Rookie of the year voting was predictably loopsided with Ogwumike receiving 38 of the 42 votes. 2 votes went to Glory Johnson and Samantha Prahalis each.
In the Coach of the Year voting Carol Ross edged Mike Thibault by 3 votes – she received 15, while Thibault – 12. 9 votes went to Cheryl Reeve, 3 to Gary Koppenburg and 2 to Dan Hughes.
All-Rookie team consists of Nneka Ogwumike, Glory Johnson, Tiffany Hayes, Riquna Williams and Samantha Prahalis.
Now only the finals MVP and All-WNBA teams are left to be announced.
