According to Hungarian news agency MTI, Hungarian Basketball Federation has decided to not continue the employment of Stefan Svitek as the team’s head coach.
In the final game of the qualification for EuroBasket Women 2013 in which the final spot was decided, Hungary lost to Ukraine 66-73.
As the hosts of EuroBasket Women 2015 having already qualified, Hungary does not have any official games until 2015, so they can take their time with finding Svitek’s replacement. By then a lot of things can happen, including Laszlo Ratgeber finishing his work with the Hungarian men’s team and returning back to women. Even if that’s not happening it’s hard to imagine Hungary hiring a no-name coach to lead the team at home in 2015.
Svitek is currently coaching MBK Ruzomberok in Slovak Republic.
