Indiana Fever blow out Connecticut to advance to the WNBA Finals, lose Katie Douglas

Indiana Fever lost their top scorer of the post season, Katie Douglas, in the middle of the first quarter to what appeared to be an ankle sprain, but were still able to blow out the hosting Connecticut Sun in the deciding game 3 of Eastern Conference finals.

Douglas was taken to hospital for examination on her left ankle during the game. 4 hours later there haven’t been any updates on her situation. She was in severe pain after landing on Tan White’s foot, it didn’t look like she will be ready to play in 3 days on Sunday when the finals start. Especially considering she has to fly to get to Minnesota. Her playing in the finals altogether would be miraculous.

The damage was done by Indiana in the first half behind the three point line – they were 7 from 7, while Connecticut was 0 from 10. The best Connecticut could do in the second half was exchange baskets with the Fever, not cut in the lead.

With Douglas unable to play, Jeanette Pohlen and Shavonte Zellous stepped up from the bench. Pohlen was 4/4 behind the arc, 1/1 inside it for 14 points. Shavonte Zellous finished with 11 points. As you would expect Tamika Catchings led the Fever with 22 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks.
