Indiana Fever snapped the 8 game losing streak for the Eastern conference teams in the WNBA finals with a win on Sunday at Minnesota.
Indiana were without Katie Douglas, who is in Indiana with her bum ankle.
Minnesota dominated the Fever on the boards for most of the game, Indy stayed in the game with an almost perfect execution on offense. Key stretch in the game was the fourth quarter in which Minnesota made just one field goal. Seimone Augustus went MIA in the final quarter – after scoring 22 in the first three she had just one point in the deciding quarter.
Tamika Catchings was a menace for the Fever with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 steals. Minnesota with all of the options they have on offense, had the most unlikely fourth quarter of the season. Don’t expect a repeat of that in Game 2.
Game 2 on Wednesday at Minnesota.
Indiana Fever – Minnesota Lynx 76-70
Fever: Catchings 20, Larkins 16 (15 reb), Phillips 13, January 11
Lynx: Augustus 23, Moore 14 (10 reb), Whalen 12, Brunson 10 (10 reb)
Indiana Fever lead the series 1-0.
