This is so easy there’s no reason to not to do it for EuroCup Women.
The winner of the player of the week Fatimatou Sacko from Lattes Montpellier.
This is Sacko’s first LWB weekly award. She is also the most awarded player in LWB weekly award history.
Maybe only the odd Satu Mare fan would have imagined that Montpellier will have such tough time in beating the Romanian side. Who knows how it would have ended had it not been for Sacko’s 30 points on 70% shooting (12/17) and 10 rebounds, 5 of which were offensive.
Honorable mentions:
Aleksandra Khomenchuk (Horizont Minsk) - While the traditional wisdom would make one chose the top scorer of a game, Tatsiana Likhtarovich in this case, 23 year old Ukrainian center’s performance against Nicky Anosike and Latoya Sanders was just too impressive to overlook in Horizont’s upset win against Kayseri KASKI. Khomenchuk had 13 points and 17 rebounds in the win.
Romina Ciappina (Hainaut Basket) – Ciappina showed up for the Hainaut game against Ankara with 20 points and 9 rebounds.
Natalia Myasoedova (Dynamo-GUVD Novosibirsk) – Despite not making the Olympic roster, Myasoedova is still one of the best Russian centers, and she displayed it in Novosibirsk’s rout of Sint-Katelyne-Waver with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Shekinna Stricklen (Homend Antakya) - A cool 20 points and 10 rebounds for the American rookie in Antakya’s opener win against Elizur Ramla.
Lien Lentacker (Lotto Young Cats) – Lentacker showed some nerves and clutch shooting, converting all three free throws 12 seconds before the regulation to tie the game against Olimpia and send it to overtime. Than in OT she made the game winning 3 pointer for a 1 point win for the Young Cats. Overall she did not have spectacular game with 8 points, 2 rebs and 2 assists.
