Slovenia announce plans for EuroBasket Women 2015 qualifiers

After a quite successful 2012 campaign in which they ultimately fell short, Slovenia has EuroBasket Women 2015 on their minds.

The coaching staff has announced a 27 player candidate list, headlined by Nika Baric and Maja Erkic – their only players on EuroLeague Women teams.

This list also contains two foreign hopefulls – Spaniard Helena Boada Xairo and young Bosnian Marica Gajic. If both manage to obtain Slovenian passports in time, obviously, only one of them will be able to play for Slovenia.

Slovenia has lined up 5 games before the 2 qualification games. On May 22 they’ll play Belgium, on May 25 and 26 FYR of Macedonia and on June 1 and 2 – Portugal.

On June 7 and 8 Slovenia will play it’s two qualification games in Bulgaria against the Bulgarians and Switzerland. If they win the group, the semifinals are scheduled a week later on June 15 and June 18.

Tina Trebec broke her hand in the last league game, she’s out until the end of the season, maybe she can play for the NT later…
