Young Belgian post player Emma Meesseman, who was selected 19th overall by the Washington Mystics, has decided to not wait a year or two and to head over to Washington this summer, basketfeminin confirms.

Meesseman will join the Mystics from the start of the camp on May 6.

Being just 19 she will be the youngest player in WNBA camps this summer. If she was in NCAA she would probably just be coming off her sophomore season.

If she makes the team she will not be playing for Belgium in EuroBasket Women 2015 qualifiers, where Belgium aren’t favored to go past group stage either way.

It will not be a cakewalk for Meesseman to make the Mystics roster with players like Crystal Langhorne, Kia Vaughn and Michelle Snow seemingly locked in a roster spot. In camp she could be fighting for a spot with Avery Warley. If she gets past camp the next roster decision for the Mystics would come in July after Quanitra Hollingsworth’s obligations with the Turkish National Team are over and she is expected to join the team.
