Leilani Mitchell to attend Opals camp in January

Basketball Australia has announced a list of 22 players who will attend Opals camp in January.

The camp will be held in Canberra from January 12 to 15 with 22 players playing in the Australian WNBL league.

Most notable new face in the camp will be American born point guard Leilani Mitchell who obtained Australian passport earlier this year to play for Dandenong Rangers. Her mother is Australian. If she sticks with the Opals for the World Championship, Mitchell will definitely ease the loss of Kristi Harrower for the Opals.

Players playing abroad obviously aren’t able to attend as couldn’t Kristen Veal, as she’s studying, Jenna O’Hea. Erin Phillips and Penny Taylor are recovering from injuries.
